The film The Game, based on the project designed by Danilo Correale for the 14th edition of the Ermanno Casoli Prize, will premiere Friday, June 13th, 2014, at Siena’s Cinema Nuovo Pendola. The documentary will show all the steps that led to the creation of a real three sided football match between the employees of three companies in the Siena area, an event that is a true mix of performance art and sport.
The award, sponsored by the Fondazione Ermanno Casoli (FEC) under the patronage of the Ministry of Heritage, Cultural Activities and Tourism, and curated by FEC artistic director Marcello Smarrelli, aims to promote the work of young artists whose philosophy echoes the principles supported by the Foundation. These encompass innovation, experimentation, the contamination of different codes, active spectator involvement, ability to enter the public space, dynamic aptitude for design, ability to disrupt conventions and acquired behaviour and a conception of art as an ethical model and a model of social context development. Dedicated to the memory of Elica’s founder, the Fondazione Ermanno Casoli was established in 2007 in order to foster the relationship between art and industry, promoting initiatives in which contemporary art becomes a teaching and methodological tool, contributing to workplace improvement and encouraging innovative processes. Elica is the ideal incubator for all the activities promoted by the Fondazione, a testing ground for experiments that can then beapplied in other contexts.
