| A | Air duct-out system This is the piping connected to the cooker hood which allows the air to be expelled to the outside. In its accessory catalogue, Elica offers a duct-out system placed above the kitchen cupboards. It is designed with a very low rectangular section that becomes practically invisible. |
| C | CE Marking This declares the conformity of an appliance to the essential requirements and evaluation procedures of conformity, as established by the European head office. | D | Decibel The unit of measure for sound pressure and power on a logarithmic scale (it means, for example, that when two products have between them 3 decibels of difference in the emission of sound, one is twice as noisy as the other). They are represented by the symbol dB. Silence is theoretically considered as 0 dB. In particular, D.L. 277/91 refers to the weighted decibel scale dBA, better than the others in expressing the sound sensations perceived by the human ear. Duct-out version Hood installation mode. In the duct-out installation version for hoods, the air is taken in, passed through grease filters and then carried through an air duct-out system to be expelled to the outside. This type of installation is considered to be the most efficient. |

Electromagnetic compatibility This is the requirement that some products should not be interfered with by disturbances coming from other electrical appliances. Neither must they themselves provoke electrical disturbances in other appliances. | F | Fibre optics System of light guide. They are used for channelling light along different routes and allow special design solutions. Filtering The air taken in by the hood passes through filters (grease and odour) which purify it. Filter efficiency is expressed by a percentage and Elica filters have an average efficiency of more than 80%. Filters - Grease Filter The grease filter is always present in the hood. In the more economical products, the grease filter is made of paper (which must occasionally be replaced) or acrylic (which can be washed twice before being replaced). In all other products, the grease filters are in either aluminium or stainless steel, both of which can be easily washed in the dishwasher. Filtering efficiency depends on the efficiency of the filter itself, not on the number of filters present in the product. Filters – Odour Filter The odour filter is present only in products that are installed in the filter version. Composed of a mixture of active carbons, it filters the air taken in by the hood and absorbs unpleasant odours. The odour filter loses its efficiency through use, and so on average must be replaced every 2/3 months. On some products, Elica installs the renewable long life filter which lasts three years. Filter version (aka recycling) Hood installation mode. With hoods which are installed in the filter version/recycling mode, the air is taken in, passed through grease and odour filters, and then sent back into the environment. This installation mode does not require duct-out piping. |
